Draft - Cultivate a habit of early to bed, early to rise in 3 days
I once tried to move my bedtime earlier by 15 minutes every day but couldn’t do it at all. As soon as I lay in bed my mind raced with many thoughts; I couldn’t pull my thinking back (the Naval guide says you can meditate when going to sleep so even if you can’t fall asleep it’s still beneficial — I knew this but still couldn’t do it; my thoughts kept running away) until I read Tim Ferriss’s Tools of Titans and began practicing meditation.
A sleep cycle is 1.5 hours; your bedtime needs to be an integer multiple of that cycle so you won’t feel groggy when you wake up.
Sleep at your usual time, set an alarm and put it somewhere far from your bed, reduce your sleep by a few cycles, get up and drink a large glass of water so you’re less likely to feel drowsy, then start working; when you get home immediately take a shower and go to bed earlier.
